John Everett Lukens, 68, passed away unexpectedly, due to complications from pulmonary hypertension, on January 18th 2018, at St. Mary's Medical Center in Middletown, PA. John was born in 1949 in Trenton, NJ to Grace Emma Lukens and the late Alan R Lukens, IV. John lived with his parents and brother Alan R. Lukens, V "Bob", in Lawrenceville, NJ. , until moving to Newtown, PA in 1951. John was an avid scholar, attending Pennington Prep and later graduating from Heidelberg University, after spending time abroad in Germany.

He worked as an educator, spreading his love of astronomy throughout many area schools. John was fluent in both German and Spanish. Most recently he taught ESL classes in his church community. He spent his free time sharing his love of astronomy and teaching his grandchildren how to play the guitar and banjo. John was also passionate about baseball, especially the Phillies.

John is survived by his mother, Grace E. Custer Lukens and brother, Alan R. Lukens, V "Bob" John leaves behind his wife, Elzeda, a daughter, Faith St. Amour and a son Sean D. Lukens. John is also survived by his granddaughters, Grace and Hope St. Amour, Kate and Elianna Lukens, also his grandson Elijah Lukens. John's enthusiasm for life, caring nature, sense of humor, smiling face and infectious laugh will be sadly missed by all those who knew and loved him.

John's Life Celebration will be held from 10:00 am until his funeral mass at the Church of Saint Andrew, 81 Swamp Road, Newtown, PA 18940, on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at 12:00 pm. Interment will be held privately.
