Obituary

John F. Dowd "Jack", of Rockledge, passed away peacefully on March 26, 2019 at the age of 92. He is predeceased by his beloved wife Rose (nee Delaney); siblings Joseph, William, Agnes Swift, and Mary Gavigan. John is survived by his loving children Elizabeth Falco (Joseph), Mary Limburg (Richard), and John F. Jr.; his caring grandchildren Christopher Falco (Jennie), Rosemary Walker (Ben), Nicholas Limburg, Peter Limburg, and Sarah Nyame (Shawn Joyce); and his brother Leo Dowd.

Jack was born in Pittston, Pennsylvania, the youngest of six children. He served stateside during the Korean War as an artillery instructor and mapmaker. After the War, he moved to Philadelphia and worked as a cartographer for Aero Service. He met and married the love of his life, Rose Delaney, in 1955. They joined St. Cecilia's Parish in 1958 and spent the next two decades raising their family. As a follower of Christ, he practiced love and charity to all. He took particular joy in his children and grandchildren's accompishments. After every school concert, he always said, "You were the best."

Relatives and friends are invited to share in Jack's Life Celebration on Tuesday, April 2, 2019 beginning at 9:30AM followed by his Funeral Mass at 10:30AM at St. Cecilia Church 535 Rhawn St, Philadelphia, PA 19111. Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Jack's memory to St. Cecilia's Church would be greatly appreciated.
