John F. McDonnell passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at the age of 75 on 11th, May, 2020 at Doylestown Hospital. John was born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to the late John C. McDonnell and Elsie C. Birli McDonnell.

John was the loving husband of Helene (Canney) McDonnell and the late Lorraine Sitko McDonnell. Devoted father of Denise McDonnell Hackendahl (Brad), stepfather of Aimee Lipstas (Pete), Jeneane Adams (Roger), and Brian Donohue. Loving grandfather (known as Pop) of Colleen, John, and Tommy Hackendahl, and Gianna and Angelina Lipstas, and Kylie and Jillian Adams. Cherished brother of Jim McDonnell (Elaine) and Joann Ruggiero (Tony). Also survived by his nephews, nieces and numerous lifelong friends.

John was proud to serve in the United States Army. He loved spending time with his family, and enjoyed trips to the beach, skiing, playing poker with friends, and traveling.

Due to the current pandemic, immediate services for John will be held privately, but will be able to be live streamed at our Decker-Givnish Life Celebration Home Facebook page. Services will begin at 11AM on Friday, May 15th. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
