Obituary

John J. Sutton, 90, of Buckingham Springs, New Hope, died peacefully on December 15, 2017. Born and raised in Newtown, John was a long time resident and a former resident of Largo, FL before moving to Buckingham Springs.

John is a graduate of Newtown High School and a veteran of the US Navy serving in the South Pacific during WWII. John was a long time auto mechanic in Newtown having his own station, Sutton's Auto Station on South State Street and Washington Ave for over 12 years. He is a Past Fire Chief in 1955, Past President, 1968-1970 and Life member of the Newtown Fire Assoc., a member of the Morrell Smith Post #440 of the American Legion, a member of the Church of St. Andrew and the Bucks Co. Board of Realtors. John with his family spent summers on their houseboat on the Chesapeake River. After his retirement, John and his wife, Janet moved to Largo, FL for several years. Upon their return, they settled into Buckingham Springs. John continued to travel to Hawaii, Ireland, and they spent 3 months touring the United States. Each year returning to Florida for a vacation.

John is the son of the late Charles W. and Margaret Burns Sutton and the father of the late James M. Sutton. He is the loving husband of 42 years to Janet Soltow Sutton and the father of Jack Sutton, Mary Jo and her husband Jim Garner and Jeffrey and his wife Margaret Sutton and the step father of William and his wife Toni Vessels and Debbie and her husband Bruce Chorman. He is the proud grandfather of Chelsea Suszko, Jim(Alicia) Garner, Mark(Jen) Garner, Catherine Sutton and Rebecca Sutton, the step grandfather of Karen (Bruce) Zabrowski and Sarah Chorman and 4 great grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to John's Life Celebration on Tuesday, December 19, 2017 from 9:30 to 11 AM and to his Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM at the Olde Church of St. Andrew, 135 S. Sycamore Street, Newtown, PA 18940. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. Memorial contributions in John's name may be made to the American Heart Assoc., 1617 John F Kennedy Blvd # 700, Philadelphia, PA 19103.
