JOSEPH "GENTLEMAN JOE" 75 of Somers Point passed away peacefully on Saturday March 9, 2013 at home with his family. He was born on November 18, 1937 in Brooklyn, NY and moved to Margate NJ with his family in the late 1940s. He attended Atlantic City High School and P.M.C. Military College.
After college, he served in the United Stated Army during the Vietnam War. After retiring from service, he worked at Woolco as an assistant manager and later entered the family business working at Alfred's Villa and the Dutch Barn restaurants. He then worked for 19 years at Resorts International Casino. He took great pleasure in spending time with his family, following professional sports and enjoying fine dining and gourmet foods.
He is survived by his dedicated wife of 43 years, Joan Marie (nee Whitehead); their sons Michael, Robert (Patti) and Joseph (Kara); their grandchildren Ashleigh, Tristan and Ainsley; his nieces Toni Ann (Josh) and Mari Lee; his sister-in-laws Gracie and Elizabeth and his brother-in-law Bobby and other family members Anthony, Joan Marie (Tommy), Marissa, Julianna, Aunt Frances and close friends Andy Karras and Mike Karas.
He is predeceased by his parents Tony and Anna Liguori and his sister Nardina Tomlinson.
Joe was a twenty-year survivor of Multiple Myeloma. His family wishes to thank everyone who contributed to keeping him with us for those twenty years, especially John Page, Donna Muse, Pete Bunting, and his numerous doctors and co¬workers who provided support by donating platelets, blood, cards, time and prayers. They were his angels during this difficult time.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Joe's Life Celebration and viewing on Wednesday March 13, 2013 from 10 to 11am at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, Wabash and Poplar Ave Linwood.
