Katherine Alice F. (nee Farley) McPeak, 87, of Pennswood Village in Newtown, PA, passed away in peace on January 28, 2021, surrounded by her loving children. She was born in Philadelphia, PA on December 28th, 1933. Katherine was the beloved wife of the late Hugh McPeak, Sr., and the late George Horcher. She is the mother of Hugh McPeak Jr (Lorri), Kaky McPeak (Thornton), Patricia "Trish" McPeak-LaRocca (Donald) and Kevin McPeak (Cindy). Grandmother of Nicholas, Eliza, Luke, Morgen and Marin, and great grandmother of Noah and Dylan. Dear sister of Andrew Farley (Carol), Joseph Farley (Patricia), John Farley (Mary). Katherine was predeceased by her parents Andrew and Loretta (Lynch) Farley, and her siblings Robert Farley (Betty), Nancy Farley Jardel (Bill), Marie Farley, Daniel Farley (Barbara) and Loretta Schaefer (Warren).
From an early age, Katherine's dream was to become a nurse, and after graduating from Cheltenham High School in 1951, she attended Philadelphia General Hospital's School of Nursing, graduating in 1954 as a Registered Nurse. She was most proud of this accomplishment and took great pride in her role of caring for others throughout her long nursing career. Katherine also earned a BA from Glassboro State College, a Master's degree in Education from Beaver College, and an additional graduate degree in Holistic Spiritual Counseling from Chestnut Hill College.
Katherine took joy and satisfaction in her role as a mother to her four children. She was a beloved sister, and Aunt Kay or Aunt Katherine to her many nieces and nephews. She loved her special role as Granny to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her delight in them and playfulness with them brought her great pleasure. Katherine embraced a curiosity about life and lived a deep and broad spiritual life in particular. Her love and faith in God strengthened her love, compassion, and support for others and the wise counsel she lovingly shared with others.
Katherine also loved dancing, listening to music, playing the piano, and any time spent with her large, extended family. She was an avid reader with a curious spirit and had a lifelong love of learning.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of the wonderful nurses and caring staff at Pennswood Village, and to those in the Woolman unit in particular. She loved you all and loved living at Pennswood. We would also like to thank the Hospice team at Pennswood for your care, and support of Katherine and her family.
