Obituary

Kathleen T. Kolb (née MacDonald) of Polk Road in East Norriton passed peacefully in her sleep surrounded by her family in the early morning hours on Sunday 24 June 2018, aged 94. Kathy is survived by her six children Mary Beth Kolb (East Norriton, PA), Lou Kolb (Williamsport, PA), Susan Kolb (Plymouth Meeting, PA), Kelly Toole (Collegeville, PA), Judy Kolb (Rehoboth Beach, DE) and Michael Kolb (Stafford, VA), eight grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Louis J. Kolb, her parents, Archibald and Katy MacDonald, her older brother Archibald, older sister Eileen, older sister Mary, twin sister Loretta ("Chub"), and younger brother Bryan ("Bunny"). Kathy was born along with her twin sister Chub on Montgomery Avenue in the village of Ossining NY in 1923, the third daughter of Archibald and Katy, and lived in Ossining until her marriage to Louis settled her in this area. She was a devoted life-long communicant of Visitation B.V.M. Church in Trooper PA and a faithful devotee of St. Jude Church and Shrine, Chalfont PA.

Kathy had a long and successful career with Stout Textiles in Colmar PA for 41 years from 1974 until her retirement in 2015 at the age of 91. She was a dedicated employee of the fabric company and cherished her career with her second family of coworkers and managing officers who, in turn, loved her as family.

Kathy was a loving and beloved mother and grandmother ("Meme"). The matriarch of the Kolb family, she enjoyed being surrounded by her children, and grandchildren and their spouses and her numerous great grandchildren. She was the keeper of the MacDonald family Irish history including the details of her parent's emigration from County Mayo, Ireland and her brother's experience as a pilot in WW2. She was a life-long devoted Philadelphia Eagles fan and was present with husband Lou at the 1960 Eagles Championship win at Franklin Field, and was over joyed as she watched and celebrated the Eagles victory this year in Super Bowl 52 while surrounded by her family. Kathy was known for her trademark sayings, "Oh Sweet Joseph" and "Oh, Saint Jude help us" among many others. Her rich life was accentuated by her deep compassion for others, ever positive outlook, and joy of the simple pleasures such as sunshine on a beautiful summer's day. She will be dearly missed and remembered fondly by all who knew and loved her. May she find eternal rest and peace with our Lord.

A viewing service will begin at 9:00am, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30am on Thursday 28 June at St. Jude Church and Shrine, 321 West Butler Avenue, Chalfont PA 18914. The mass will be followed by burial at Calvary Cemetery in West Conshohocken, PA.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Church and Shrine, Chalfont PA or Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, Department of Nursing.
