Obituary

COOK, KATHRYN D., of Rockledge, Pa, passed away on Monday, February 22, 2016 at Lafayette Redeemer Nursing Home. She was 89.
Kathryn was born in 1926, in the Brewerytown section of Philadelphia. She was a graduate of Dobbins High School. She married her husband and lived for many years in the city. In 1973 they moved to Rockledge, Pa

Mrs. Cook was preceded in death by her loving husband, John W Cook, her sister Barbara Robenolt and her brother Robert David. She was the beloved mother of John R Cook and wife Diane; and dear sister of Mildred Pollart. She was the grandmother of John P Cook and wife Ellexis.

After graduation from school she was employed by the Bell Telephone Company until the birth of her son. Besides being a loving mother and homemaker, most of her life was spent doing volunteer work. Her main interest was her church work.

Kathryn was active at the Conwell Memorial Baptist Church in Philadelphia and later at the Fox Chase Methodist Church. She spent her free time delivering flowers and visiting the sick and shut-in. She also worked as a self-employed caterer.

Kathryn was a founding member of the Assumpta Academy parents association and spent many hours as a volunteer in the Cardinal Dougherty HS library. Kathryn was particularly fond of her collection of angels. She enjoyed ceramics and doing crossword puzzles. She was a member of the Artisans Order of Mutual Protection (NE-ll), a past president of the "Young at Heart" seniors, and belonged to the Rhawnhurst Chapter of "To Live Again". Later in life she enjoyed working each week with the pre-school children at Gloria Dei.

Family and friends are invited to Kathryn's Life Celebration on Saturday, February 22nd, from 10 - 12 P.M. at THE DEAN GEITNER GIVNISH LIFE CELEBRATION HOME, 7900 Oxford Ave, Phila., PA 19111, followed by her Funeral Service at 12 P.M. Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
