Obituary

Lawrence P. Nuskey peacefully passed away on the evening of November 15th, 2018 while surrounded by loved ones, at the age of 83. Born in Philadelphia, PA on June 21st, 1935, Larry was the son of Margaret (Antal) and Lawrence J. Nuskey Sr. - He resided in Birdsboro, PA (previously of Norristown) with his beloved wife, Elaine (Pierce) Nuskey, who passed away in 1999.

Larry was the loving father of Susan E. Nuskey, Lawrence J. Nuskey, III (Connie), Karen E. Nuskey and the late Joanne Stepnowski (Ken). He was the cherished grandfather of Jennifer Stepnowski, Jeremy Stepnowski, Andrew Nuskey, Daniel Nuskey, Lawrence "Joe" Nuskey, IV (Rhianon Fry), Seth Nuskey. And he was the beloved Great-Grandfather of Declan Stepnowski and Madison Nuskey, and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and daughter, Larry was preceded in death by his sister, MaryAnn Powell (Joseph).

Larry was a member and a Eucharistic Minister at St.Teresa of Calcutta Church, he also taught CCD at St.Francis of Assisi Church in Norristown, a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus (4th Degree), He had a strong sense of community and served as an award-winning volunteer for the local Meals-on-Wheels Foundation in Pottstown, PA and was a past President of the West Norriton AMBUCS which aided people with disabilities to be more independent in their lives. Larry was a proud graduate of Roman Catholic H.S. before becoming "The Pretzel Man" and starting up an entrepreneurship of his own Pretzel Bakery with his business partner, the late Clyde Kratz, called K&N Soft Pretzels, which were enjoyed and distributed to schools and ballparks all along the Tri-County area for many years before selling it and entering into an early retirement to spend more time with his family and friends while travelling and seeing the world. One of his favorite spots to frequent was Sea Isle City, NJ in the summertime with his loved ones at the Outdoor World Resorts. He was an avid Philadelphia sports fan who took pleasure in attending and viewing the ballgames with his kids and grandchildren each season. Larry was friends to many and always showed his love, care and generosity through his actions. If you needed help with anything he was always there in a heartbeat, never expecting anything in return, as he valued being dependable for those close to him throughout his lifetime. He was a good friend, a faithful husband, a strong father and an inspirational grandfather that words cannot express deeply enough just how much those around him cherished and looked up to him as a golden standard of how to be and treat others in this world… he carried himself with such humbleness and respect that you could sense his faith shining through every interaction he had encountered in his daily life. His faith was clearly very important to him and he would tell his family to "Always Keep God close to your heart" through any of the challenges or changes on our journey in life, as it will give you strength and peace.

May he forever be at peace now, with all those who passed over before him, as he is welcomed into Heavens gates and greeted by Jesus with open arms.
