Obituary

Lee H. Scott, formerly of Lower Gwynedd, died on August 6, 2018 after a brief illness. She was 82.

The youngest of six daughters of Birchall Hammer and Olive Wilson Hammer, Ms. Scott attended Abington Friends School, graduating in 1953. She attended the College of William & Mary, where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority, graduating in 1957 with a degree in Mathematics.

A devoted and loving wife and mother, Ms. Scott is survived by three children, James W. Scott, Jr. (Kathy) of Abington, Anne S. Moseley (Greg) of Porter, TX, and Kenneth B. Scott (Christi) of Plano, TX; four grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; and seven nieces and nephews. She is also survived by a sister, Phyllis Duin, of Redmond, Washington. Her husband of 60 years, James W. Scott, passed away in May.

After her children were grown, Ms. Scott obtained her real estate license. She worked for more than 25 years in the real estate industry, first for Century 21 – Harvey I. Salwen in Spring House, and then for Andrews Dickinson & Pinkstone, and its successor, Weichert Realtors, in Fort Washington. She earned the GRI designation and was a member of the Million Dollar Club. She took particular delight in selling young couples their first home.

In her spare time, Ms. Scott enjoyed working with her hands at various arts and crafts. She had a keen eye for decorating, and was skilled at needlepoint, counted cross stitch, and decoupage. Her homes, and those of her children, were filled with examples of her handiwork.

Ms. Scott loved to laugh. She enjoyed watching movies and television, particularly comedies, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. A talented athlete in her youth, she was adept at golf, swimming, and ice skating. She loved the Phillies and post-season baseball, regardless of who was playing, and she especially enjoyed the Olympic Games.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 19, 2018 at Abington Presbyterian Church, 1082 Old York Road, Abington, PA 19001, where the family will receive friends one hour before the service. Interment will be private.
