Obituary

Margaret Curran (nee McElwee), of Philadelphia, passed away August 9, 2019 at the Philadelphia Protestant Home, she was 86. Born to the late John and Elizabeth (nee O'Brien) McElwee, Peg was the wife of the late Wallace James Curran, Sr.; loving mother of Margaret Anne (Ronald) Finger, Wallace James, Jr. (Kathleen) Curran, and Paul (Laura) Curran, devoted grandmother of Christopher Curran, and Michelle (Jason) Smith; and dear sister of Frances (the late Nicholas) Fanelli. Peg is preceded in death by her siblings Anne (Andrew) Douglas, Mary Jane (Joseph) Fanning, Elizabeth McElwee, John "Bud" (Dorothy) McElwee, James (Genny) McElwee, Thomas (Dorothy) McElwee, and Veronica (Charles) Sitarski.

Peg enjoyed playing bingo, listening to Perry Como, and making Christmas stockings for her family. Peg was a member of the Red Hat Society, the Senior Citizen's group at St. Bernard's Church, and the Catholic Daughters of the Americas.

Relatives and Friends are invited to Peg's Life Celebration on Tuesday, August 13, 2019 at St. Christopher Catholic Church, 13301 Proctor Rd, Philadelphia, Pa 19116 from 9:30-10:30 AM, followed by her Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM, interment Resurrection Cemetery.

Peg's family would also like to extend their sincerest gratitude to the staff at the Philadelphia Protestant Home (Chapters and Pathways) for their excellent care and special treatment of Peg during her stay.
