Margaretta J. Emilius, "Peggy", age 103, died Tuesday, December 31, 2013, in Lady Lake, Florida. She was born in Reading, PA. to Otto Alfred Martin and the former Ida E. Merkle. As a child she moved to Philadelphia and grew up in the Lawndale section. In 1925, Peggy graduated from Benjamin Franklin High School on Rising Sun Ave., in Lawndale. In 1931, she married Carl A. Emilius, who later started J.A.Emilius's Sons, in Cheltenham, PA. In the early 1940's they started enjoying summers in West Wildwood, NJ. It was there that she enjoyed crabbing, fishing and swimming. She still swam well into her 90's.
For many years Peggy belonged to Bethany United Church of Christ in Lawndale, and in 1997 she joined Pleasantville UCC in Chalfont, PA. It was in 1999 that she moved with her daughter and son-in-law to The Villages in Lady Lake, FL. Her daughter's friends loved to visit Peggy. They'd play pinochle, games and enjoyed her good nature and up beat manner. She was "Mom" to all.
Preceded in death by her husband, Carl A. Emilius, her son, Carl A. Emilius, Jr., and grandchild C. David Post she is survived by her daughter, Margaretta E. Post, and her husband Wayne, of Lady Lake, FL., her daughter-in-law, Bonnie L. Emilius, of Ivyland, PA., her grandchildren; Carl Emilius III (Tracy), W. Douglas Post (Holly), Bonnie Lehe Diefenderfer (Hans), M. Denise McMullen (Michael), Beth Six (Steve), John Post (Traci), Bryan Emilius (Sally), Carin Butchko (Remmie), Jennifer Post (wife of the late C. David Post).
Family and friends are invited to Peggy's Life Celebration Thursday from Pleasantville United Church of Christ, 3424 Limekiln Pike, Chalfont, PA. 18914. Open casket viewing 9-9:30am, closed casket 9:30-10am, Service 10am. Int. Lawnview Cem.
