Obituary

Kelly, Costar,Sewell

Marge was born in 1921 in Philadelphia. She was the third of five children of William and Elizabeth Casey Burke and she grew up in the "Paradise" section of the city. Marge graduated from Hallahan High School in 1939 where she was the president of her class as well as finishing first in her class academically. She graduated as a registered nurse from Philadelphia General Hospital in 1942.

In 1944, Marge married Gerald Kelly and a year later, Gerald Jr. was born. A second child, Susan, was born in 1951. Living in Logan, Marge returned to full-time work as a school nurse in 1954 until 1971. Some of her schools where she worked included: Holy Child, St. Stephen's, Our Lady of Mercy, Little Flower, St. Veronica's and St. Helena's. In 1971, she received her Bachelor's degree from West Chester University.

In May 1969, Gerald Jr., a Captain in the army, was killed in Vietnam and Gerald Sr. died six weeks later. As deep as the sorrow, Marge was a woman of grace, and she believed that life could still be good. In 1971, Marge married Louis Costar, a widower with six children who embraced Marge as their own until this day. After Lou's death in 1985, Marge met an accomplished dancing partner, Fred Sewell. They danced their way to marriage in 1997 and Fred passed away in 2010.

For more than 17 years, Marge lived with the challenge of Alzheimer's disease. At the time of her death at the age of 97, Marge was blessed with the love of seven children, 19 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
