Margie Young was born in Greenwood South Carolina on July 14th, 1942 to the late Lester and Ruth Freeman. She was one of five children. She passed away peacefully Thursday, June 9, 2016 with her loving family by her side at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital. She was 73. She was preceded in death by two sisters Gladys and Betty, and one brother, Timothy.

Margie was brought to Philadelphia with her family as a small child. She accepted Jesus Christ as her personal savior at an early age. As a child she attended Enon Baptist Church where her Uncle the late Rev. Samuel David Wideman was assistant Pastor.

Margie was educated in the Philadelphia public school system and graduated from Simon Gratz High School.

Margie was married to Robert Stanley Young on September 14th, 1963. To this union, six children were born, Michelle Ann, Gale, Robert Stanley Jr, Derek Rubin, Donna Marie, and Sheri Lynn.

She was employed by Simon and Schuster Publishing Company for over 30 years.

Margie was a devoted wife, a dedicated mother, a loving sister, and a loyal friend. She contributed generously to many charities and religious organizations.

She leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband of 53 years, Robert S. Young, six children: Michelle Ann, Gale, Robert Stanley Jr, Derek Rubin, Donna Marie and Sheri Lynn, eight grandchildren: Keith, Cherelle, Alvin, Edward, Dominique, Devon, Joshua and Dylan, four great-grandchildren: Tahlia, Farrah, Areyiah, and Elianna, three sons-in-law: Kevin Twitty, Keith Fortson, Derrick Carroll, one daughter-in-law: Julie-Ann Young, sister Mattie Freeman-Stephens, first cousin, Dr. Patricia A. Wright-Wesson, sister-in-law Barbara Deans, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Family and friends are invited to attend her viewing on Monday, June 20th, 2016 from 9 to 11am, service immediately following at Community Baptist Church, 225 Radcliffe Street, Bristol, Pa. Interment will be held at Washington Crossing National Cemetery, Newtown, Pa.
