Obituary for Marilyn G. Fuccella

December 1, 2018
Lahaska, Pennsylvania

Marilyn Grace Fuccella, 89, of Lahaska, PA passed away December 1, 2018 at Pine Run Retirement Community in Doylestown, PA surrounded by her loving husband Carl of 69 years and her five children.

Marilyn is survived by her only brother, John Gautraud (with wife Ann), her devoted and adoring husband Carl J. Fuccella, and their five children: daughter Donna Bufanda, daughter Pamela Haislet (with husband Scott), daughter Roberta Robinson (with husband David), son Robert Fuccella (with wife Janice), and daughter Lisa Carter (with husband Charles R. Carter, II). Her surviving grandchildren include Jessica Weeth (with husband Alan), Julia Robinson (with fiancee Ashley); Rachel Haislet and Garrett Haislet; Renee Fuccella, Mallory Fuccella, and Dennis Fuccella; Lindsay Carter, and Christianna Carter (with husband Tim); and her only great grandchild, Wesley Weeth.

Marilyn was born to parents John and Grace Gautraud, May 12, 1929 in Jamaica of Queens, New York. On doctor's orders Marilyn endured a year in bed with rheumatic fever but ultimately graduated from Sewanhaka High School. That illness would set the stage for many related health problems that she persevered through her later years in life.

Marilyn took her first job as an Executive Secretary at Sears, Roebuck and Company in Manhattan, New York City. She met her husband Carl on a blind date in New York City while he was in the U.S Navy, and they were married on June 26, 1949. When they moved to Cincinnati, OH Marilyn advanced her career as Secretary to the President of the U.S Playing Card Company. Little did she know at the time that she was blazing a path for all of her future daughters to follow in various professional careers of their own.

Despite Marilyn's early professional work, she invested herself in her most important life's work setting up the family household across multiple states while raising five children and in support of her own parents. She loved music and filled her home playing all of the classics, including music from Broadway shows, many of which she attended with her mother while in New York City – music that also brought her some joy during her final days. She enjoyed playing the piano and always dreamed of having a baby grand piano, a wish that Carl fulfilled when they moved to their beautiful home in Lahaska, PA.

Marilyn loved to decorate, cook and entertain, and was a great friend to everyone she met. She was a dedicated sports fan not only watching her favorite professional teams, but also having spent many years following her children and grandchildren in their sporting activities. She was completely devoted to raising her family and to her husband Carl.

Family and friends are invited to Marilyn's Life Celebration, Wednesday, December 5, from 9:30-11:00 a.m. at the Church of Our Lady of Guadalupe, 5194 Cold Spring Creamery Road, Doylestown, PA and to participate in her Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Doylestown Cemetery.
