Martha was the devoted wife to the late Willem Maaskant, dear mother to Ellen Maaskant and Margo Maaskant-Vautour, and the late David Maaskant, doting grandmother to Kimberly Stefanowicz-Woodward (Jeff),W. James Stefanowicz (Leslie), David L. Maaskant (Laurie), Alisha Maaskant-Bolc (Jason), Rachel Maaskant-Yocum (Ben), Willem Maaskant, Martin Maaskant, Michael Vautour and great grandmother to Logan S. Martha grew up in Holland and lived during the depression & World War II. She met the love of her life, Willem Maaskant while he was in the service & stationed in her home town of Bergen op Zoom. They were married for 51 years before he passed away in 2003. In 1960 at the age of 33, she gave up everything she knew to follow her husband for a new beginning in the US & to ensure a better future for her children. She left behind a life she knew, her father & 7 siblings, her mother having passed away in 1958. Speaking no English and even though homesick, she made this country her own; she embraced America. Her pride & joy was in taking care of her home & family. She was very creative and enjoyed painting, crocheting, sewing & collecting, but she was especially proud of the garden she created at Pine St. Not only did she raise 3 children, but she helped with her grandchildren and enjoyed her great grandchildren. It is now time for her to rest and join her husband and son.
