Obituary

Mary Parker Putnam "Molly" passed away on December 13, 2017 at age 81. Born in Washington, D.C. on March 31, 1936, Mary was the daughter of Dorothy (Pryor) and Col. John Scott Parker, Jr. As a youth she was an Air Force "brat", and lived in Berlin, West Germany from 1948-49 while her father flew planes for the Berlin Airlift. Her family also lived in Bethesda Md. and Washington DC. She graduated from Western HS in Washington DC. After high school, Molly graduated from Mt. Vernon College. She returned to school mid-life, and received her nursing degree from Albert Einstein Medical Center School of Nursing in 1979. After graduation she spent her entire nursing career at Lankenau Hospital. She loved her job as a scrub nurse in the operating room before retiring in 2002 after more than 20 years of service. She was well liked and remembered with fondness by all who knew her, many of whom still eagerly share "Molly" stories.

Molly was a generous and loving woman. She loved to read and was a restless intellectual. History, politics, art, music, current events, martial arts and even the English Premier League were subjects she would doggedly pursue. She was passionate about miniature collectibles, and she created tiny realms with minute attention to detail. She was a woman blessed with rare beauty, but it was her inner qualities for which she will be fondly remembered. Her laughter was infectious, and her spirit contagious-but, above all things-she was a fiercely independent defender of the truth. She has left a chasm in the hearts of those that loved her, and will be dearly missed.

Molly was the loving mother of her four children and their families: Lisa Putnam Chapman, husband John and son Ford; Samuel G. Putnam III and his children, Jesse, Ryan, Jake and Anna Putnam; Marissa Putnam Wadsworth and her children TJ, Madison and Chase Wadsworth; Doree Putnam Baker and her husband John and their children Jack, Hannah and Sam Baker. Mary was predeceased by her brother Scott Parker and her beloved grandson TJ Wadsworth.

"Nobody Knows but Me"
Patrick O' Leary

There's a place that I travel
When I want to roam
And nobody knows it but me.

The roads don't go there
And the signs stay home
And nobody knows it but me.

It's far far away
And way way afar
It's over the moon and the sea

And wherever you're going
That's where you are
And nobody knows it but me.
