Obituary

Mary Teresa McCutcheon (Walton)

Mary T. (Walton) McCutcheon, aged 91, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 2, 2020 surrounded by her friends Christine, Emily and Billy. The daughter of the late John And Mary (McHale) Walton, preceded in death by husband Howard A. "Mac" McCutcheon. Mary grew up in the East Falls section of Philadelphia and spoke fondly of her living on Conrad St, across from Hohenadel's Brewery. She talked about watching as the trains would ride down the street picking up another delivery and the beer wagons making their rounds through the neighborhood. She went to St. Bridget's Catholic School in East Falls and attended St. Michael's Industrial School, learning book keeping and graduating in 1946. Mary went out into the world to make her own way.....but It wasn't long before she went to "that" football game as she would say. That game changed her life for good. It was there she met "Mac", the love of her life. After a dance at the Lawncrest Recreation Center a couple days later that was it......she said he never danced with another girl again. They were married a few months later in a little church in New Jersey, a marriage that would last nearly 73 years.

During their time together they did so many wonderful things and had such great times. They were truly the best of friends.

Mary spent many years waitressing in some of the best restaurants in the city and as a teacher in a beauty school. She loved her home of 70 years, their beach house in Barnegate and always talked about dancing and fishing and time spent with Mac. She loved to bake and made the best cookies, and according to Mac made the BEST cakes. Mary was also an avid gardener and loved her flowers. It was though, her love of dogs that was her greatest passion. Her and Mac spent many years traveling the country showing off their Miniature Pinchers and winning numerous awards.

Sadly, Mac passed away in January and Mary's heart was broken. She missed him very much, she was lost and wanted nothing more than to be with him again.

She will be missed by those of us who knew her.....those of us who love her.

When you see Mac, tell him we all say Hi!
Mary's graveside service will be held Wednesday, June 10, 2020, 11:00 AM at Washington Crossing National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, a donation be in her memory to your local animal charity would be appreciated.
