Merritt "Pete" A. Pete was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Norristown, lifelong NRA member, avid hunter, amateur weightlifter, and owner and operator of a vintage hydroplane power boat, Challenger, which won numerous races.  He was a long-standing member of the American Power Boat Association.

He had an innate understanding of mechanics and engineering, and a thirst for adventure, adrenaline, and life.  He built his own garage, restored classic cars, loved motorcycles, and could repair almost anything.  Pete served active duty in the U.S. Army as a Military Police Officer, worked as a carpenter, welder, heavy equipment operator for Phoenix Iron Company, and concrete truck driver for over 48 years.
