Michael E. Charlton, 81, died Monday, January 16, 2017 in Richlandtown, PA. Michael was born in Philadelphia and lived on Leopard Street, where he attended Immaculate Conception School. He belonged to the Shackamaxon Boys Club and he enjoyed playing ball at the Tip Top playground and Penn Treaty Park off Delaware Ave. He took in movies at the Jumbo Movie Theatre. In 1949 the Charlton family moved to Fergusonville, PA where he attended Delhaas School and was a Boy Scout. In 1953, Michael proudly enlisted in the US Navy and served during the Korean Conflict. He received his GED while servicing in the Navy. Michael had numerous jobs but his career was with Rohm Haas where he retired after 35 years of service. He was an avid sportsman and anyone who knew him knew he was competitive. Michael received his Black Belt in Karate at age 50. He was a workout/fitness buff and kept himself fit and trim. He enjoyed playing golf in the Bahamas, the Poconos and in Virginia with his brother Churck and his nephews, Chuck, Jr. and Michael. He especially enjoyed vacationing with his brother Chuck's family in Williamsburg, VA. He was fearless when it came to roller-coasters.

Michael is survived by his daughter Barbara Waldron of Bristol, PA, his brothers and sisters, Eugene "Chuck" Charlton of Newtown, Robert "Monk" Charlton of Williamstown, NJ and Veronica "Sis" Beecher of Chalfont, PA and Joann Dugan of Yardley. He is a proud grandfather, great grandfather and uncle.

Relatives and friends are invited to Michael's Life Celebration on Sunday, January 22 from 1 PM to 3 PM and on Monday from 9 to 10 AM at the Swartz Givnish Funeral Home 323 Washington Ave., Newtown followed by a service at 10 AM. Internment will be in Washington Crossing National Cemetery at 11 AM with Navy Honors.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Michael's name may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Delaware Valley, 399 Market Street, Suite 102, Philadelphia, PA 19106.
