Miriam Lois Zastrow May with her family beside her, passed away peacefully March 2, 2017 at Saint Mary Hospital in Langhorne, PA, age 93. Her father Benjamin, died exactly 46 years to the day, he took her peacefully onto her next journey.

She was born July 4, 1923 in Munising, Michigan to Benjamin and Viola Zastrow. Miriam graduated from Mather High School in Munising, Michigan. She attended Davenport College in Grand Rapids, Michigan, where former President Ford was one of her college professors. She graduated in 1943 and went on to become a legal secretary.

Miriam married the man of her dreams, Robert L May, married for 51 years. They spent their golden years in Montgomery, Michigan before Miriam became a resident of Attleboro Retirement home in 2010.

She was a financial supporter of many organizations that were close to her heart. She was an artist in counted cross stitch. If her hands weren't busy, her mind was. She was a voracious reader, avid gardener of flowers and vegetables, pinochle player at her best, stickler for "words with friends " and a love of politics. Miriam, known as Red by her family and friends, always enjoyed the company of close friends and family. During her life, she enjoyed her affiliation with Studebakers, travelled with her husband and enjoyed their winters in AZ. Her mind was clear and sharp until her final days. The family was blessed.

Surviving her are her three daughters, Susan Thompson (Warren) of Weston, Australia, Barbara (David) Hart of Holland, PA, Judy May of Newtown, PA. One grandson, Robert (Laura) Lokar, one granddaughter, Kelly Leigh Hart: two great granddaughters, Vivian and Alice Lokar: six nieces and one nephew. Miriam was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L May on June 3, 2007: her parents, Benjamin and Viola and her brother Gary Zastrow.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 25, 2017: 11-12 at Dunn-Givnish Funeral Home in Langhorne, PA.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to all that loved her. She will be greatly missed. She was a beloved mother and a very special person.

Internment will be at Harbaugh Cemetery in Montgomery, Michigan.

Special thanks to the staff at St Mary's and Dr Akruk that helped her in her last few hours.

In lieu of flowers or donations, Miriam would like to leave you with this: Spend time with your children, take a walk on the beach with your loved ones, make a toast to enduring friendships lifelong and beyond. Share a smile, a wave, a hug and a kiss. Tell them often you love them.
