Obituary

Nils Werner Anderson Jr. of Audubon, passed away on December 28, 2017 at the age of 85. Born in Brooklyn, NY, he was the son of the late Louise (Guldbrandsen) and Nils W. Anderson Sr. He graduated from Alexander Hamilton Vocational High School in Brooklyn, NY as well as Adelphi College in Mineola, NY with a BS in Physics. Nils proudly served our country in the Army during the Korean War in the 2nd Infantry as a Staff Sergeant. Nils worked as an engineer throughout his career and retired from Integrated Circuit Systems in the late 1990's. Werner faithfully served the Lord at Fort Hamilton Presbyterian Church in Brooklyn, NY, St. John's Lutheran Church in Brooklyn, NY and Upper Merion Baptist Church, King of Prussia, PA, where he was the member of the choir, men's group and bible study group. Werner was an avid swimmer and basketball player in his youth. He continued to enjoy swimming while living in Shannondell. Werner also was active for many years with the Boy Scouts of America and was a mentor/counselor for Eagle Scout candidates in Audubon, PA. Nils was an avid craftsman, and especially had a passion for wood working and furniture restoration. He received many awards for his beautiful bird carvings. He also loved to travel.

Nils leaves behind his loving children Jeanne E. Anderson and Robert W. Anderson (Liza). He also leaves behind his beloved granddaughter Ericka M. Anderson. Nils is survived by his dear sisters Judith L. Ferrandiz (Robert) and Brenda A. Carpio (Hugo). He is also survived by his brother-in-law Robert Smith, and leaves behind many nieces and nephews, as well as extended family in Sweden. He was predeceased by his cherished daughter Brenda Lorraine Anderson and was also predeceased by his beloved wife Barbara L. Anderson. Werner was predeceased by his grandmother Louise V. Ihlang (nee Miller) and step-grandfather Arthur, his mother-in-law Lillian S. Smith, and brother-in-law Joseph Smith.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Nils' life on Thursday January 4 from 10:30 – 11:50 AM at Boyd-Horrox-Givnish Funeral Home, 200 W Germantown Pike in Norristown, with a service to follow at 12 PM. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Upper Merion Baptist Church.
