Obituary

Nylah Isabella Rosa-Thorpe was born on November 9, 2015 at Jefferson Hospital in Philadelphia, PA. Nylah came into the world smiling and continued to use that smile to brighten the lives of everyone she met. Nylah's smile was only the tip of the iceberg, her laughter, energy, intelligence, and pure joy were unmatched.
Nylah quickly began communicating at an above average language level and expressed interest in activities not typical for children of her age. Since 18 months old Nylah has been fishing, camping, and riding horses. At age two Nylah expressed interest in team sports, and at age three she received early admittance to Germantown Day School.
On June 30, 2019 Nylah was unexpectedly diagnosed with DIPG (Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma). DIPG is a vicious and fast acting brain tumor which only affects children! This devastating disease has no "official" effective treatment or expected survival. Nylah began to change the way doctors and scientists approach the disease and the care/treatment of the DIPG warriors who fight it!
Nylah's love and memories will be cherished by: Her Mother Crystal Hackett-Thorpe; Father Jose Rosa; Siblings: Javon, A'Madia, Liam, Audrey, Milo, and Na'Zay; Aunts: Mercedes (Sadie), Amber (Ba-Bo), and Diamond (Dottie) Thorpe; Grandmother Rita Thorpe, Grandfather Earl Hackett; Great-Grandparents Frank and Royanne Thorpe; Her oncologist Dr. Jessica Foster and the doctors, nurses, and special staff at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia; Her barn families at Belmont and Solly Stables, as well as varies other barns; Her Head Master, teachers and classmates at Germantown Day School; and a host of cousins and extended family.
