Obituary

Peter J. DeMayo, 80, of Brigantine passed away while at his home on Friday, May 5th, 2017. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Pete is survived by his wife, Joanne DeMayo. They spent close to 60 years together, of which 55 years was in a wonderful marriage. He will also be missed and survived by his family: son Peter J. DeMayo Jr., daughter in-law Angie DeMayo, grandson Peter J. DeMayo, III, and brother in-law and sister in-law, John and Cheryl Miller.
Pete was born in Philadelphia, PA. He was a Veteran of the US Army; went to work for Penn Fruit Co., Sears Roebuck, and eventually retired from Impact Services Corporation where he was a Labor Supervisor.

Pete enjoyed being "active". He and Joanne were always finding new things to do with friends and family. Whether it be walking the Boardwalk, trying different restaurants with friends, shows, cruises, or taking advantage of everything Brigantine had to offer. He still loved dancing with his wife, even in their last years together. Pete was always eager to help with Brigantine "Beach Clean-up" initiatives, he was a member of the Brigantine Senior Citizen Club, and spent most of his retirement as a teammate on the Brigantine Turtles Baseball Team. He loved helping his son with "garage projects" where they always spent their most quality time together. Over the past 5 years; one of his biggest enjoyments has been being "Pop-Pop". He loved the bond he was building with his grandson, P.J., it was the highlight of his life.

Relatives and friends are invited to join in Pete's Life Celebration at 12 noon on Friday, May 19th at the Brigantine Elks Lodge, 400 West Shore Drive, Brigantine, NJ 08203. Remembrances will began at 1:00pm.
