Obituary

Peter E Ventura of Levittown PA left us peacefully on August 10,2018. Heaven has received another hero.

Peter,97, was born in Scranton PA and then moved to Trenton New Jersey. On 1942 Peter enlisted in the US Army Airforce to fight in WWII. He joined the crew of a B-24 bomber in the 725th Bombardment Squadron as a Staff Sergeant, Radio Operator and Gunner. He was sent on 47 combat mission in the European and African Arenas. He was honorably discharged in 1946. He was highly decorated with a Purple Heart, two Presidential citations, and several additional combat metals.

After the war he returned to Trenton to finish his education. He met his beloved wife Patricia Merryman Ventura at Trenton High. They married on September 7th, 1947. As a graduate of Trenton High Peter went on to finish his College Degree at Rutgers University (Class of 1950) where he obtained a master's Degree in Chemistry.

Upon graduating Peter worked for 30 years as the Chief Chemist for the State of New Jersey. He also served on the Board of Pharmacy. Upon his retirement from the State of New Jersey he went on to work 7 more years for the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission.

Peter and Patricia are original owners in Levittown. They have called Freedom Lane their home for over 66 years. In his spare time Peter was active at Saint Michael the Arch Angel Church in Levittown PA. Peter was a boy scout leader, Baseball coach and very active in community affairs. Peter served in Bristol Township as a Committee Person and as a member of the Bristol Township PTO.

His biggest pleasure was building an addition to their home and remodeling their original Levittowner to raise their six children. He and Patricia loved their home and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Peter loved his Phillies and was extremely proud that the Eagles won the Super Bowl this year.

Peter is survived by his wife Patricia, the love of his life for 71 years. His six children Peter P Ventura and his wife Lois, Dana Q Ventura, Job H Ventura and his wife Cynthia, Hon. Joy Cooper and her husband Dr. Harry, Marybeth Ventura and James C Ventura. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren Melissa, Allison, Suzie, Ben, Angela* deceased, Jaime, Alana, Matt, Rocco, Adrianna, Vincent and Geoffrey. He is also blessed to have 12 great-grandchildren Alexandria, Eric, Isabelle, Jacqueline, Catherine, Eli, Anthony, Tyler, Payton, Justin, Isabella and Derek. Peter was preceded in death by his brother James Ventura and survived by his brother Nicholas Ventura, sister Bridget Soden, Sister- in- law Rose Ventura long with several cousins, nieces and nephews. And family pet Molly.

Relatives and friends are invited to Peter's Life Celebration from 6-9 PM Thursday August 23rd at The Beck-Givnish Life Celebration Home located at 7400 New Falls Road Levittown PA 19055. Mass will be held 10 AM Friday August 24th at Saint Michael the Arch Angel Church 66 Levittown Parkway Levittown PA 19054. Interment will take place promptly at 1:30 PM Washington Crossing National Cemetery 830 Highland Road Newtown PA 18940.
