Obituary

Philomina C. Rocco, of Philadelphia, passed away on Monday, January 20, 2020 at Jeanes Hospital. She was 96 years old. Philomina was born on March 3, 1923 to the late Generosa and Anna (née Rukita) Cefalo in Philadelphia. She was the wife to the late Michael R. Rocco who passed away in 2014. Philomina attended South Philadelphia High School as well as the Moore College of Art and Design. She worked at the Frankford Arsenal doing Engineering Work for the Government during WWII and then did freelance work as an artist. She then worked for Day and Zimmerman and Whiting and Patterson where she retired from. She was a longtime member of St. Helena's Church in Olney as well as the Moore College of Art and Design Alumni Association. Philomina enjoyed cooking and doing charitable work and had a love for art and music. She also enjoyed gardening and tending to her roses. Above all, Philomina was a loving homemaker who cared for her family and was always willing to help anyone in her family.

Philomina is survived by her children: Michael D. Rocco (Margie), Anna M. Louie (Donald), and Domenic J. Rocco (Teri). She is survived also by her grandchildren: Michael Rocco, Mina Albanese (Frank), James Rocco (Brooke), Domenic Rocco (Amanda), Donald Louie (Paola) as well as three great grandchildren: Myah, Lila, and Penelope. Philomina was preceded in death by her infant brother, Geriaco along with her two sisters: Anna Roselli and Edith Mayo and is survived by a sister in law, Rose Rocco and a nephew, Anthony Baroni.

Relatives and friends are invited to Philomina's Life Celebration on Monday, January 27, 2020 from 9:00-11:00 a.m. at the Church of St. Helena, 6161 N. 5th St. Philadelphia, PA 19120 followed by her funeral mass at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Philomina's name may be made to the Fraternal Order of Police Survivor's Fund at www.fop5.org. Family services are by Geitner-Givnish of Olney, 215-224-6300.
