Obituary for Sally (Lynne) Slater Lucas

November 19, 2018
Warminster, Pennsylvania

Sally (Lynne) Slater Lucas of Warminster passed away with her daughter & son-in-law by her side, holding her hands and looking into her beautiful blue eyes, on November 19, 2018 in Abington Memorial Hospital at the age of 71. Sally unexpectedly succumbed to her illnesses and will be truly missed by all she touched with her gentle, kind-hearted, thoughtful, loving, supportive, devoted, selfless, loyal, friendly, caring and generous soul.

Sally was born in 1947 in Atlantic City to the late Clarence & Bertha Slater (Duryea). Sally married her one and only true love of a lifetime John F. Lucas and they adopted the luckiest daughter in the universe Christina (Chrissy) Lynne. Sally became the loving mother-in-law of Brian Patrick Garrity in 2008. Sally also became the most incredibly adoring Mom Mom of Tyler John Garrity in 2015. She dedicated her retirement years to being not only his loving grandparent, along with Kevin & Mary Jane Garrity, but one of his main caregivers since his birth. Tyler and his Mom Mom had a truly beautiful and unforgettable bond.
Sally was the loving sister-in-law to Anna & Joe Lucas as well as loving Aunt to all of their children and grandchildren. Sally was half-sister to Susan, Elizabeth and Stuart Slater. Sally was also the cousin of Mary Stelly (Duryea) who she loved like a sister, and Ermine Ann Gold (Duryea). Sally was the granddaughter of the late Robert and Florence Duryea (Eglof) and Clarence and Sallie Slater (Smith).

Sally enjoyed tap dancing and roller skating as a young girl. As a teen she earned money baby-sitting and worked as a telephone operator and volunteered at the local hospitals as a candy-striper. Sally went to Atlantic City High School and attended Nursing School at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia where she began her career in Nursing. She extended her nursing expertise as a Nursing home Administrator, Utilization Management Specialist and Registered Nursing Assessment Coordinator before she retired.

Sally most enjoyed spending time with family, especially her Grandson Tyler and Grandpup Tank; visiting with her cousin Mary, going to the movies and dinner with her dear friends, Barbara Hughes and Faith Hutta, and out on the town for various adventures with Peggy Girard. She also enjoyed gardening and going to see he dearest LBI (Long Beach Island) friends the Patersons, the Frocks, the Thompsons, Martins and many more she considered family over the past 40+ years.

Sally was truly loved and will be deeply missed by all that knew her.
