Obituary

So Chan, of Elkins Park, passed away on Monday, February 1,
2021 at his residence. He was 89 years old. So was born in
Guangzhou, China to the late Chung San Chan and Chun Ho
Chan and immigrated to the United States on January 29, 1979.
He began working as a chef in his mid 20's. He eventually was
able to share his love of Cantonese cuisine by opening and
becoming a proprietor of the "House of Chan" restaurant in
Montgomeryville from 1980 to 1997 with his wife. In his free
time, So enjoyed traveling extensively. He was also a member of
several Chinese organizations, having served as President of
both the Oak Tin Association, and the Tsung Tsin Association in
Philadelphia's Chinatown.

He is survived by his wife, Shun-Sik Leung Chan and his
children: Sandy Chan (Cheong), Linda Chan (Ming), Margaret
Tsang (Michael), Peter Chan (Jane), Selina Lam (Uay) along
with his grandchildren: James Au-Yeung, Monica Au-Yeung,
John Au-Yeung, Michelle Tsang (Erek), Matthew Tsang, Martin
Tsang, Erin Chan, Corey Chan, Megan Lam, Andrew Lam,
Jenny Chan (Zackary), and Maggie Chan. So also cherished
Selina's dog, Coco, and James's dog, Pua.

Services will be held on Tuesday, February 9, 2021 from 10:00
a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Geitner-Givnish of Olney, 6230 N. 5 th St.
Philadelphia, PA 19120 followed by interment in Northwood Cemetery.
