Obituary

Stephen W. Kuritz, of Blue Bell and formerly of the Roxborough section of Philadelphia, passed away peacefully on Thursday April 20, 2017 with his family by his side. He was 70 years old. Born September 11, 1946 in the Bronx section of New York, he was the son of the late William and Rose (Chernowski) Kuritz and the beloved husband of Margaret "Peggy" Kuritz.

Steve attended High School in the Bronx and later was honorably discharged from the US Navy where he served on the aircraft carrier USS Enterprise during the Vietnam War as an aviation fire control technician for the A6A, A6B and EA6 Intruder. He earned degrees from both Long Island University (BS Business), and Temple University (MS Political Science). Stephen worked in Human Resources for the City of Philadelphia for over 38 years.

Steve enjoyed spending time with Peggy, the love of his life, and family at his home in Cape May. He adored his grandchildren and watching them grow into the wonderful and talented people that they are. Steve cherished the lifelong closeness he had with his cousins and all the adventures and memories they shared. He loved his sons - spending time with them fishing, golfing, biking, hiking, tinkering with Lionel trains, and rebuilding cars. He was a proud father to the end.

In addition to his wife Peggy, Stephen is survived by his children; Stephen W. (April), William D., Maggie Hammond (Cory), Tracy Calzoncit (Pablo), and Jennifer Benussi (Dennis), seven grandchildren; Taylor, Dennis, Brady, Camryn, William, Stephen, and Alexander, and his sister Lorraine Smutny (Louis) and nephew John D.
