Obituary

McAndrews
Thomas, age 57, of Philadelphia passed away on March 15th. He was the beloved son of Veronica and the late Patrick; loving brother to Veronica (Barry), Mary, Joseph (Jill), Patrick, Ernest (June), Michael (MaryJean), and Christopher (Nicole); dearest friend to Valerie; devoted Godfather to Kevin and Kyla, and cherished uncle to many nieces and nephews. He was also adored by his aunts, uncles, and cousins.

"Tommy Mac" was humble and genuinely funny. As a child he was amazingly curious, inventive, and always willing to follow his older siblings into mischief.
As a young adult, he was extremely athletic, competing in Track & Field for Archbishop Ryan, where he broke the Catholic League record in the 300 meter High Hurdles and held the record for more than 20 years. Tom worked in the construction trade and had been a member of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers Union. In his spare time he enjoyed tinkering with his collection of wheat pennies. He hosted the best Pig Roasts ever!

Tom truly loved his family. He cared deeply for his mother and visited her often. He treated his nieces and nephews as if they were his own children and was endlessly silly with them. He was tall, handsome, well-traveled, a true friend, and a real pleasure to be around. He will truly be missed by all who knew him.

Family and Friends are invited to Thomas's Life Celebration at St. Martha's Church, 11301 Academy Rd., Philadelphia, PA 19154, from 10 – 11 am on Saturday, March 23rd. Funeral Mass will follow at 11 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Martha's Church in honor of Tom would be greatly appreciated.
