Thomas Charles Cunningham passed away peacefully in his home on August 14, 2021. He was 87.

Thomas (Tom) was born at Fitzgerald Mercy Hosp, Darby, Pa, on July 17, 1934, to Charles and Elizabeth Cunningham.

Tom was the beloved husband to Carolyn Cunningham (nee Carney) for 55 beautiful and loving years. In addition to his wife, Tom leaves behind his dear sister-in-law, Constance Carney, along with her beloved children and spouses, Kevin and Trish Carney, Lynne and Robert Mundy, Scott and Constance Carney, Duane and Robin Carney, and Sean and Maureen Carney.

A special thank you to our dear neighbors and friends Sharon Juliano, Lt. Col. U.S. Army RN Retired, and Maureen Walsh for their nursing assistance and extraordinary care.

Tom graduated from St. Thomas More High School, received his B.S. from Temple University, Philadelphia, Pa., and his M.A. from St. Joseph's University, Philadelphia.

He also served his country in the United States Army in Security from 1956 - 1959.

Tom was first employed to handle the Philadelphia center city desk as a reporter for United Press International (UPI), where he covered anyone of high profile from presidents to celebrities. This was a very exciting part of his life and he made many friends as he experienced many unique situations and important events.

He then moved to Bucks County where he was hired as a Journalism and English Professor at Bucks County Community College. He also guided the students in publishing their weekly newspaper. Tom was selected to have the honor of granting a "Thomas Cunningham Student Award in Journalism" and their name was hung on the wall for each year awarded.

Tom loved golf and enjoyed playing with his best friend, Charlie Gartland, for 50 years at Edgmont Country Club, Delaware County, where Tom was a member for many years.

Tom and Carolyn enjoyed their many travels together, with a special trip being when Tom took Carolyn to Ireland for two weeks for her birthday gift.

Thomas's services and interment will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Thomas's name may be made to the Saint Frances Cabrini Parish, 325 South Oxford Valley Road, Fairless Hills, PA, 19030, or to the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), 501 Front St., Norfolk, VA 23510.
