Obituary

Tyler Joseph Norton, age 12, was born July 3, 2008. Tyler is survived by his grandparents: Joseph & Diane Norton and Daniel & Victoria Gaffney; Aunts: Christine Norton, Denise Brown, Sara Romano, and Sandra Gaffney; Uncles: Thomas Norton, Stephen Brown, Daniel Gaffney, and Daniel Romano; Cousins: Derrek Brown, Cameron Brown, Nathan Brown, Michael Parry, Brandon Gaffney, Peter Gaffney, Andrew Gaffney, and Georgia Romano.

Tyler recently completed 7th grade at St. Aloysius Parish School where he excelled academically. Tyler was in the process of completing testing and applications in anticipation of his high school years. His goal was to attend one of the prestigious private schools in the area to adequately prepare for his acceptance to TCU (Texas Christian University), the college he aspired to attend since the young age of 5.

Tyler enjoyed sports, history, reading, music, and playing the violin. Athletically, Tyler was involved in a variety of sports including football, baseball, basketball, bowling, and golf.

Over his short life, Tyler received many awards and accolades including the 2019-2020 All-American Scholar Award for Excellence in Academics, and in 2020 he was awarded the Cal Ripken Jr Player of the Game in the Hall of Fame Tournament in recognition of his ability, effort, sportsmanship, determination, and leadership.
As a result of his parents' love for sports, Tyler was involved in a variety of sports from a young age. His mom and dad were the ultimate cheerleaders and self-nominated, co-presidents of the unofficial "Tyler Fan Club"! From the moment he was born, Tyler was the center of Joe and Bern's universe. Tyler was the perfect mix of his parents, inheriting his love and athletic ability from his father, Joe, and his exceptional intelligence from his mother, Bernadette.

Tyler was an amazing, well-rounded individual with wisdom far beyond his 12 short years. He consistently displayed his love, affection, and appreciation for his parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, friends, teachers, and coaches. He loved sharing his accomplishments with his grandparents whom all had a special bond with him.

Tyler put his heart and soul into all that he did from academics to athletics. Even though he worked hard and always strived to do his best, his own achievements never overshadowed his love for helping and influencing others. He consistently displayed his natural leadership skills as he was always there to cheer his classmates and teammates on by motivating and encouraging them to always do their best. When things did not go just as planned, he was right there to lift their spirits, reassure and inspire them that all will be okay, and to never give up. Instilling confidence that things will go better next time, to believe in themselves and their abilities. Tyler was an enormous blessing to all who knew him.

Joe, Bern, and Tyler will truly be missed. We encourage all to hold them close to your heart with fond and loving memories. Know they are at home in Heaven, safe and at peace. All who knew them were truly blessed to have them as a part of our lives while they were here. As much as it saddens our hearts they had to go, we must know that they will always be with us in heart, spirit, and memories we will cherish forever. Each of us is blessed to have three special angels looking down and watching over us.

A viewing will be held for Joseph, Bernadette, and Tyler on Wednesday, June 30, 2021, from 5-8 PM at Boyd-Horrox-Givnish Life Celebration Home of East Norriton, 200 W.
