Vera Nakonetschny Gambone passed away peacefully on August 8, 2021, one month shy of her 98th birthday. Babi, as she was lovingly referred to by family and friends, was the beloved wife of the late Very Reverend Michael Nakonetschny and the late John Gambone; mother of George Nakonetschny and his late wife Alla, and his wife Sandra Prawlocki, and Elena Nakonetschny; grandmother of Michael and his wife Alicia, Valerie and her husband Richard, Anthony and his wife Robin, Nicholas and his wife Catherine, and Steven; great-grandmother of Amber, Austin, Alexander, Jaden, Alexa, Nicholas, Dimitrius, Tyler, Joshua, and Ella; she is also survived by the members of the Gambone family: the late Gee Gee and his wife Dawn, Greg Gambone and his wife Michelle, and the children from both families.

Vera was born to the late Gregory and the late Daria Matzkov in Barr, Ukraine on September 3, 1923. After emigrating to the United States and arriving on June 6, 1951, she pursued higher education and graduated from Temple University as a Practical Nurse. Vera utilized medical training from earlier in her life as well as her education to pursue a career as a phlebotomist. During her working years, she was employed with Jefferson University Hospital where she met her second husband, John, and later retired after 17 years of service to a career she loved. Vera was quite the linguist, mastering seven languages, and loved to cook and bake for her family.

Relatives and friends are invited to Vera's Life Celebration from 9:00 A.M. and Funeral Service beginning at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, August 13, 2021 at St. Stephen Orthodox Cathedral, 8598 Verree Road, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania 19115. Interment will follow at St. Vladimir Russian Orthodox Cemetery, 316 Cassville Road, Jackson Township, New Jersey 08527.

In lieu of flowers, the family hopes that charitable donations in Vera's name will be made to the Masonic Village of Warminster where she received excellent care during her time spent with them. Donations can be made via the following link to their website:
