Obituary

Verella D. Davis, "Vee", departed this life on May 20, 2017. She was born October 22, 1942, in Williamsport, PA. to the late Oliver and Vera Brown. She was the eldest of six children. Her brother Danny preceded her in death in March 2017.

As a young girl, Vee moved with her family to Washington, DC where she attended the public schools in the District of Columbia. After relocating again with her family to Philadelphia, PA, Vee attended and graduated from Germantown High School in Philadelphia, PA.

In March 1965, Vee married William (Bucky) Davis who preceded her in death in 2014. To this union were born two sons, Troy and Kevin.

Vee was a devoted wife and mother. She balanced a career with homemaking. She worked in retail until accepting a position at GE Capital in the insurance field. She worked there until her job relocated. After that Vee happily made a nurturing home for her husband and boys.

Vee was family focused. She found joy in being with her family and doing things for them. After her boys were adults and had their own children, Vee was the doting grandmother. Known as Nana, she made sure to attend their events at school and other outside activities. Vee was the epitome of family togetherness. She loved spending time with her family, which she extended beyond her household. She took pleasure in all types of family gatherings, such as holidays, celebrations, or just plain "hanging out".

Vee enjoyed engaging in activities. She loved shopping. She did all of her shopping online, including groceries. Her savvy style was always reflected in her fashions, decorations for special occasions and interior design. Vee was an avid reader. She spent many hours reading books or researching various topics on her IPad. Vee was skilled at using the computer and frequently used Facebook as a means to communicate with family and friends. She routinely played internet scrabble with her sister Pam.

Vee was a Christian who loved to listen to gospel and spiritual music on her IPad or television. She also enjoyed listening to many inspirational speakers that were available through her IPad or on TV. She showed kindness, encouragement, patience, good humor and love.

Whether you needed guidance, a listening ear, words of wisdom, or just a laugh, Vee was your go to person. She will be profoundly missed. She leaves to mourn her passing her two sons: Troy (wife Robin) and Kevin; four grandchildren: Riana, Raina, Christopher, and Anthony; her siblings: Pamela Mosley, Michael Brown (wife Linda), Phyllis Lockhart (husband Gerald), and Eric Brown; sisters-in-law: Rose Brown, Gail Santana (husband Clyde), Cynthia (Cindy) Davis, and Karen Davis, "special cousin" Reginald White (Pooh), "special son" Darren Hackett, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members and friends.
