Obituary

Vern Yeager of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania passed away on November 7,2021 after a long and tough battle with Parkinson's and dementia with his children by his side.

Vern was born on February 14, 1951 to Martha Wolfgang & Charles Yeager. After graduating from Olney HS in 1969 he immediately enlisted in and proudly served in the Army. After leaving the Army he started with the Philadelphia Fire Department in 1972 where he worked proudly as a dedicated firefighter for 32 years in the House Of Dragons E20-L23. During those years Vern also owned and operated Bug Busters's Pest Control which he built from the ground up into a family business until he could no longer run the business due to his Parkinson's. Vern retired from the PFD in 2004 where he spent much of his time riding his Harley and enjoying life and family to the fullest.

Vern had 3 children who he loved immensely. Kevin (Maureen), Valerie (Ned) and Zachary (Dana) along with his 10 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
Vern was predeceased by his parents as well as his brothers Charles and Ray, his sister Janice and his grandson Ned Jr. He is survived by his brothers Ralph, Herb, John, and Donald as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Vern was a very dedicated and productive man who put everything into his family and all he loved in life. He was proud to be a firefighter and loved his PFD family. It was always more then a job to him. He embossed the true meaning of comradery for the men and women he worked along side of and that continued even after his retirement. He loved riding his Harley that would take him to open roads of freedom and travels. That too was a sense of family to him as it brought many of his fellow riders together for amazing experiences. His bike was always sparkling and ready for the next ride.

He was a great man known and adored by many and his loss will be felt by all. He will be riding his Harley through the pearly gates ready to see all waiting for him.

Relatives and friends are invited to Vern's Life Celebration on Thursday, November 18, 2021 from 8:30AM to 11:30AM at John F. Givnish Funeral Home, 10975 Academy Road, Philadelphia, PA 19154.
