Obituary for William F. Slater, Jr.

September 26, 1947 - July 11, 2021
Eagleville, Pennsylvania | Age 73

William F. Slater, Jr. passed away peacefully at home after an extended illness, surrounded by his loving family on July 11, 2021, at the age of 73. Born September 26, 1947, to the late William F. Sr. and Margaret (nee Reilly) Slater, he was the beloved husband of 50 years to Nancy (nee D'Adamo); loving father of Jennifer Miller (Matthew), William Thomas (Jennifer), and Eileen Lee (Howard); Pop to William, Gabriella, Sophia, Samuel, Daniella and Mia; brother to Margaret Mary Morris, Alma Coppinger, Kathleen Slater and Rosemary Moffitt.
After high school, Bill served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War. His patriotism and love for his country was evident as he proudly wore attire in a show of support of the armed forces. He never missed an opportunity to stop and speak with a passerby who showed the same level of interest in his great country.
Bill worked in the pharmaceutical industry for 41 years and retired a Global Logistics Manager. Following his retirement, Bill was employed by Fairview Village Church as their Executive Director. Serving at his home church was always a priority for him. He was a Sunday School teacher, Small Group Leader, a Board Member, an Upward Sports Leader and Coach, and most importantly a man who connected with the congregation on many levels. He offered Godly wisdom and guidance to many, was a faithful confidant, led by example and loved unconditionally.
His favorite hobbies included freshwater fishing on his boat, College basketball, the Philadelphia Phillies, Penn State football and being a spectator at any event/sport that included his grandchildren. In recent years he and Nancy frequently travelled and cruised to many destinations, but their favorite getaway is Marco Island, Florida.
Bill's greatest joy was his family. His life and legacy will always live on in the lives he touched. He will be missed immensely by his family and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to William's Life Celebration on Saturday, August 7, 2021, from 9:30-10:50 AM, followed by his memorial service at 11AM at Fairview Village Church, 3044 W. Germantown Pike, Eagleville, PA 19403; interment private.
