Eitnier
William J. Eitnier, 84, of Brigantine, passed away on Wednesday April 23, 2014, surrounded by his loving family. His devoted wife of 52 years Carolyn and his three children, Paula, Jamie and Dan, son-in-law Ralph, daughter-in-law Sue, future daughter-in-law Jenny, Niece Pam, Nephew Scott, seven grand children and one great grand child survives him. Bill, also known affectionately as Bud by close friends and family was born on February 4, 1930 in Philadelphia. Bud and his family moved to the Atlantic City Inlet when he was 3. His family included his father Eugene, mother Florence and younger sister Sandy, all three have pre-deceased him. Bud served in the United States Navy before and during the Korean War. Bud's passion for the sea was passed on from his grand father Ernest Gray and his father Eugene Eitnier, both of whom served their countries in the US Navy and Merchant Marines. Bud and Carolyn resided and raised their family in Brigantine starting in 1962. Bud was a long time member of the Brigantine Yacht Club since 1967 and also a member of the United States Power Squadron for 62 Years. Bud started with the Atlantic City Electric Company as a Linesman in 1953, working his way up to a Manager position before retiring in 1990. Bud was an expert sailor, carpenter, wood-craftsman and a waterfowl carver. His attention to detail won him many national and world awards for his duck carvings. Some of his work has been displayed on a number of occasions in the Brigantine Museum. Bud enjoyed walking around the Northern end of the island, everyday until his passing. He was respected, loved and admired. He was a kind and gentle man, who will be missed by his family, his friends and residents of Brigantine. Bud spent his entire life on and living by the sea, his final wish is for his ashes to be poured into the deep blue waters of the Atlantic to voyage endlessly and eternally. "When ever you gaze upon the sea, think of me" WJE.
