Obituary

William W. Haeser, 70, of Brigantine. Bill Haeser aka Pop-Pop, Dad and Twisty was born on October 17, 1946 in Englewood NJ. He was called home on Wednesday October 11, 2017 with his wife and constant companion by his side. He resided in Brigantine more than 45 years and his early life was spent in Teaneck NJ. He was schooled in St John's, St Joseph's and St Cecelia's graduating from Teaneck High School in 1965. Bill proudly served overseas with the US Army (66-68) as a Specialist/Cryptologist with the 8th Infantry Division of the 8th Aviation Battalion. Discharged in 1968 he began a journey of 34 years with a major communication company. From 1968 -70 was a period of motorcycles and fast cars! All this ended abruptly with his wedding to Laurel Dwyer from Paramus. Mr. Haeser coached little league baseball and CYO basketball. He also called bingo for St Phillips School. He was a parishioner at St Thomas R.C. Church almost 50 years, serving as a Eucharistic Minister as well as a Pre Cana Instructor. He was a charter member of Knights of Columbus Council 7020 and served as a chapter president of the Brigantine Jaycee's where he was also honored as Jaycee of the Year. Bill also served as an officer/delegate with Local 827 IBEW. His sponsorship in Project Children brought children from Northern Ireland to Brigantine for summer vacations to escape the violence in their homeland. Bill was also a member of the American Legion Post 396 where he was honored to hold many offices including Post Commander multiple times.

Bill was predeceased by his parents Dorothy Moe and Winfield Haeser. He is survived by his wife Laurel (cupcake, strudel) of 47 years and his legacy lives on in his 3 children, Kerry Hurtt (Daniel), Courtney Laut (David) and William Haeser Jr., as well as his pride and joy, his grandchildren and members of his band "Poppy and the Peapots" Daniel Hurtt, Jaxon Hurtt, Eme Laut and Eden Laut. He is also survived by his sisters Suzanne Fitzgerald (Jack) and Patricia Meers (Bill) and his brother Kenneth Haeser (Sylvia) as well as many nieces and nephews and his closest friend and brother-in-law Edward Dwyer (Adele).
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Bill's Life Celebration and visitation on Saturday October 21, 2017 from 9:30 to 10:45am at St Thomas Church, 8th Street and Brigantine Ave Brigantine. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11am. Interment with Military Honors will be at Atlantic County Veterans Cemetery, Estell Manor.
