William R. Wentz of Warminster, Pa., 84 years old, passed away Monday,
August 17, 2020 at his home.
Born in Whitemarsh, Pa., he was the son of
the late Raymond and Mabel (nee Hathaway) Wentz. He was the beloved
husband of Janet Wentz of 64 years and the loving father of Pamela
(Richard) Sands, Sharon (Lou) Gallo and the late Raymond (Sherry) Wentz.
Also surviving are his 6 grandchildren, Jeffrey Sands, Allison (Roger)
Drinkwater, Nate and Sara Gallo and Emily and Ryan Wentz.
He graduated from Ambler High in 1954 and continued his education to
Lehigh University in 1958 where he graduated with a BS in electrical
engineering.
He worked and occasionally rode his bike to the Naval Air Development Center in Warminster for 34 years where he worked in the Engineering Division,
retiring in 1993. Bill continued to work for an additional 10 years with a
Naval contractor.
He was a member for 54 years at the United Church of Christ in Warminster where he was a charter member and active choir and board member. He later was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Warminster.
A member of the Masonic Lodge #67 F. & AM in Jenkintown,
he also enjoyed being with his family and friends. Among his close friends
were his first cousins who frequently got together for fun, travel, and
good times. He was never one to turn down dessert and enjoyed meals
with his children and grandchildren.
He was extremely active in his youth and enjoyed roller skating. Later in
life he was an avid traveler and beach lover and liked to spend his time
bike riding, snorkeling, and canoeing. He was very handy around the
home and enjoyed working on cars.
A passion for theater, he dabbled in acting and performance during high
school and with his church. He also sang with the Country Gentleman
Barbershop Choir.
He will be remembered for being a kind- hearted person who enjoy life.
Relatives and friends will be received Thursday, August 27, 2020 after 10:00 AM until time of his funeral service at 11:00 AM in The Decker/Givnish Life Celebration Home, 216 York Road, Warminster, Pa. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
