Obituary for Mrs. Wilma M. Mackle

July 16, 1931 - June 24, 2021
| Age 89

Wilma M. Mackle passed away peacefully with her family by her side, on June 24, 2021. She was 89 years old. Devoted wife of the late James J. Mackle, Sr. and beloved mother of James Mackle, (Ellen), Maureen M. Robinson (Steven), and Michelle M. Ludlow (Scott). Loving grandmother of 6 grandchildren; Jess, Alex, Christine, Allison, Michael and Matthew. Wilma was born on July 16, 1931 to parents Ernest and Wilma Lenz (nee Loh). She was a lifelong resident of Philadelphia. She attended Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic School and was a 1949 graduate of Little Flower High School. She worked until marrying James in 1961. Wilma's greatest joy was her family, and family life consisted of home cooked meals, post-dinner table conversations, weekly trips to Ocean City and yearly vacations to North Carolina, Niagara Falls, Disney World and more. After raising her children, she returned to work at Fox Chase Cancer Center and finished her 25 year career as an Administrative Assistant for the Director of Nursing. When she retired, she retained close friendships with those she worked with and enjoyed traveling with them to the Poconos each year. In retirement, Wilma adopted her dogs Molly and Brandy who were her loyal companions. She continued her love of cooking and gardening. She enjoyed reading on her tablet, watching movies with her family and rooting for the Phillies. Wilma was grateful to have wonderful neighbors and she truly enjoyed their company. Wilma considered her family as the most important gift that God gave her. She was incredibly proud of her three children and their spouses, and she cherished her grandchildren dearly. She was her happiest when her entire family was together. One of Wilma's favorite memories was when her family spent a week together in the Outer Banks, NC to celebrate her 80th birthday. Wilma was a very patriotic individual and had a profound love for our country. Her husband and father were both war veterans. She was always grateful for all who served and gave their lives for our country, and she gave generously to organizations that benefited veterans. In lieu of flowers, donations in Wilma's memory to the Wounded Warrior Project would be greatly appreciated. Wilma touched many lives and her presence will be greatly missed.

Relatives and friends are invited to visitation with the family from 8:30-9:30 am on Saturday, July 17th at Dean-Geitner-Givnish Funeral Home in Fox Chase prior to Wilma's Life Celebration Memorial Mass at St. Cecilia Catholic Church at 10AM; interment at Lawnview Cemetery in Rockledge, PA.
